Manali – Leh – Manali Bike Trip
Twelve days of the legendary Manali-Leh highway, with Nubra and Pangong in the middle and the return ride home.
Khardung La, Nubra and Pangong from one base
Representative photos of the region.
The easiest big Ladakh ride because you fly in and out of Leh and never have to cross the Manali highway. After two days to acclimatise, you ride over Khardung La into Nubra, across the Shyok valley to Pangong Tso and back over Chang La.
How high you sleep and travel through the trip. Gain height gradually and drink plenty of water.
Indicative plan. Road, weather and permit conditions can change the order or timing of days.
Fly in, check in and rest. No riding today. Short walk and plenty of water to start acclimatising.
Visit Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace, collect bikes and gear and do a short test ride around town.
Climb to Khardung La, one of the highest roads in the world, then descend into the Nubra valley. Evening near the Hunder dunes.
A scenic ride along the Shyok river, with gravel sections and stream crossings, to the shores of Pangong Tso.
Watch the sunrise on the lake, then ride over Chang La and down through Karu to Leh.
A lighter day: Magnetic Hill, the Indus-Zanskar confluence and Alchi, or a rest day and bike servicing. Spare day for weather.
Return the bikes and transfer to the airport.
